How To Increase The Traffic To My Website?

Blogging is one of the many modes of communicating on the internet that is not going anywhere soon. But the difficulty level of getting people to come to your blog has significantly increased over the past few years. You may be wondering "How to increase the traffic to my website?" This guide contains just the tactics to help you get started on your traffic-boosting journey. In this post, we will tell you 10 different strategies on how to increase blog traffic 2019, so let’s get started.

1. Optimize Your Content for SEO

This is the most important one because if your content is not optimized for SEO, then it means there are lesser chances for it to be picked up and ranked by Search Engines which means reduced traffic. Here are a few things for optimizing content for SEO:

  • Use SEO keywords in your content
  • Make sure your title is attractive and contains your main keyword
  • Make sure your content has more than 1000 words
  • Be sure to write in with headings and bullet points
  • Use On-page SEO optimizing tools like YOAST SEO

If you follow these tips, your content’s quality will increase, search engines will gladly rank it and your readers will also find it easier to read your content which means more chances of getting shares.

2. Promote on Social Media

In order to get traffic, you need to build visibility of your blog and for that, you need to go where people hang out the most; social media.

Use popular social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube, etc. to promote your blog and blog posts.

This way, you will get seen and people will eventually start to come to your blog and become your readers if your content is valuable. For more information on how to do this, check out my article on using YouTube to get more viewers here.

3. Talk to Your Audience

Engaging with your audience is the best way to keep them loyal to your blog and also get them to share your blog posts. People love to get attention from the writers of the posts they have commented on and that makes them love your content even more. Here’s what you can do:

  • Read all comments people leave on your posts
  • Reply to them even if someone has just said a thank you
  • Talk to people who email you personally or message you on social media
  • Engage with people on relevant forums

You can also do webinars when your audience grows; this will help you personally talk to hundreds of people and grow your audience base even more.

4. Leave Valuable Comments on Other Blogs

Go to other blogs that are related to your own blog’s niche, read their posts, and leave appropriate comments.

We are not talking about spamming but engaging with people who are also commenting on their blogs, try to add value so people can visit your blogs as well.

Also, make sure to register yourself with the commenting system of the blog so that there is a link back to your blog when you comment.

5. Engage in Guest Posting

Writing guest posts is one of the most popular and effective ways to get visibility, credibility and obviously high traffic back to your blog. Here’s how it works:

  • You find blogs with high traffic related to your niche
  • Contact to the owner of the blog and ask them to let you publish a post on their blog
  • Sometimes they charge some money and sometimes they allow it for free
  • When decided the terms of posting, write a unique and highly valuable blog post
  • Add your blog’s or a blog post’s link in that content and publish it

Once your blog goes live on their website and people start reading it, they will come to your blog as well, which means you will get highly relevant traffic.

6. Write Highly Valuable Content

Nothing that we have suggested in this post will work if you have a weak content. You need to first perfect your content and then try these methods to increase traffic. Now by ‘perfecting’ we don’t mean that you hire a Harvard Graduate to write content for you so it has perfect grammar, vocabulary and writing tone.

What we are saying is that make sure your content is free from writing errors, is simple and easy to understand and offers genuine value to your readers.

If you do this, your content will become highly shareable and people will find the sharing button irresistible. Once your content starts to get shares, you will obviously start to get more traffic.

7. Stick to a Content Posting Schedule

A frequent content posting schedule means more visibility. If you are posting one or two blogs in a month, then it means you don’t have enough entries in search engines to rank for and your source of traffic will only be those two or three posts.

So, make sure to post at least two to three times a week without compromising the quality of the content. If you don’t find time for it, outsource your content writing to freelancers but make sure to keep it coming so your audience also has more content to read from you.

8. Make Your Content Visual

We cannot stress enough the importance of visuals in a blog post. According to Statistic Brain; humans have an attention span of 8 seconds and visual content grabs that attention pretty quickly; visual platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest prove this.

So if you have long posts with a lot of headings, you can summarize them in an infographic, add pictures describing complex processes, post screenshots of what you are talking about in a paragraph, or just add aesthetically pleasing pictures relevant to your content to keep readers engaged.

9. Use Quora

As of 2019, Quora has a whopping 300 million active monthly users (Search Engine Land). This makes Quora a great place to increase traffic to your blog. Here’s what you can do:

  • Find questions on Quora related to your niche
  • Answer those questions and provide as much value as you can
  • Invite people to read your blog or blog post for more information or related content

This is it! If you do this, you will soon start to see growth in traffic and the best part is that all of that traffic will be highly relevant to your blog.

10. Leverage Internal-linking

If someone comes to your blog to read a specific post, you can divert them to your other blog posts as well that are related to that specific blog post. You can do this by linking your highly relevant blog posts to each other.

For instance, if you have a blog post on ‘How to Start a Blog’, you can link your previous blog post that covers finding a niche for your blog.

This way, someone who is interested in knowing how to start a blog will obviously like to know how to find a niche for their blog and that means your audience spend more time on your blog and read more than one post.
